More Information: Hoffmeister (1509/10-1547) Augustinian hermit and one of the most fervent opponents to the Protestant Reformation. He was born in 1509/10 and died in 1547. He became an Augustinian at a young age and in 1533 became prior of the monastery at Colmar. The monastery was in crisis and was surrounded by Lutheran supporters. He instituted strict rules and fought for the monastery's traditional rights and priviledges. He wrote this treatise in 1530 but it was not printed until 1559 and then reprinted in our edition.  All of his theological works are vehemently anti-Lutherian.    VD 16 C4786.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
