    More Information:

In Two Volumes. A New Edition, Corrected by the Author. Two octavo volumes. [2], [xxx], [282]; [4], [x], 279, [1, blank] pages. With frontispiece portrait of Bentham in Volume I. Both half-titles present. Contemporary full tan calf with covers ruled in gilt. Spines ruled in blind with later red and green gilt morocco lettering labels. Both volumes rebacked, preserving most of the original spines. Some wear on boards due to tape removal. Previous owner's inkstamp and embossed stamps on the front free endpapers, and on front blank in Volume II. Previous owner's signature on both title pages. Frontispiece is foxed with some foxing in text. Overall, a very good copy of this landmark work on social and political thinking.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
