    Description

Jean Cocteau. Three Part Manuscript and the Limited Numbered Edition of L' Ode à Picasso. Inscribed by Cocteau to Fanny Car with a full page drawing. Numerous holograph corrections in ink and pencil to the manuscript. The three parts of the manuscript are labled by Cocteau before the first part, and under the general title of L'Ode a Picasso: 1 Le camoufleur 2 Intermede and 3 Les Muses. The printed version has only two sections: L'Homme Assis and Les Muses. L'Homme Assis derives largely from part 2 of the manuscript. Les Muses in the printed book begins with a two-page opening comprising the first two pages of part I in the manuscript, and then the rest of that section is all of section 3 of the manuscript, including corrections made by Cocteau. Aside from the first two pages, the rest of section 1 of the manuscript was not included in the published book.

Manuscript in matching canvas-covered notebooks, labeled "I" and "3" [Section II is inside the first notebook] With a full-page sketch and inscription by Cocteau to Mrs. Car: "To F. Car / fond remembrances / of / Jean Cocteau."
