    Description

Jean Cocteau. Autograph Letter Signed. "Jean Cocteau." One page in French, 8" x 10", [Paris?]; n.d. [circa 1919-1923]. Addressed to "Mon cher enfant" [probably to his friend, novelist Raymond Radiguet (1903-1923), Cocteau lets the recipient know that it is not necessary for him (recipient) to call him (Cocteau) "master," because he (Cocteau) is not that much older than him. Cocteau also tells the recipient that he is always available to help him with various matters. Cocteau once famously referred to the younger Radiguet as "Monsieur Bébé," hence the likelihood that this letter is addressed to Radiguet.
Jean Maurice Eugène Clément Cocteau (1889-1963) was a French poet, playwright, novelist, designer, filmmaker, visual artist and critic.
Condition: Letter has horizontal and vertical folds, and wear to edge of document, some toning; otherwise good.
