Inscribed by the author on the second front free endpaper: "Presented to/ Miss Londelda Huddleston/ By the Author/ Nov 17- 1886/ Belton Texas". 8vo. 80 pp. Photographs. Original decoratively blind-stamped brown cloth with titles and vignette stamped in gilt on the front board. Boards stained, faded and worn at the edges. Spine ends chipped and worn. Front free endpaper missing, contents toned, and a few pages with closed tears and loose. Hinges loose. A worn but good copy.

    Related newspaper articles from the 1940s, 1950s and '60s have been laid in to the book including an obituary for Thomas Elbridge Battle mounted to the front pastedown. Battle was present with Ross at the freeing of Cynthia Ann Parker. In addition, a 1950s vintage picture from a magazine featuring Baldwin Parker, son of Quanah Parker, signing an autograph is mounted on the verso of the dedication page.
