First collected Latin edition, first state. This is the first issue of this book without the added leaves found in later issues. Folio. Π2, a-b6,c-d4, A-3E6. [44], 609 [1] pages. Full-page coat of arms, engraved portrait of Prince Charles, many printer's devices, head- and tail-pieces, and large historiated initials. Contemporary mottled calf, rebacked and restored with spine banded and with title in gilt on red leather label, large gilt armorial device on covers with central shield (quartered: demi-lion rampant over wavy lines and six scallops with bend barry) surrounded with two decorated ovals made up of fleur-de-lis decorative elements and the letter "H", with a cross patee quadrate suspended from a circle with the archangel Michael brandishing a sword; edges speckled red; endpapers renewed; some marginal dampstains and damp wrinkling, else in very good condition.
