Quarto (12.5 x 9.75 inches; 318 x 245 mm). [i-iii], iv-xxiv, [1], 2-66; [i-ii], [1], 2-96, [97-99] pages. Illustrated with 80 colored plates plus 1 colored frontispiece. One quarter vellum with blue paper covered boards, with original paper title label pasted on spine; label is chipped with minimal paper loss. Slight foxing throughout, with offsetting of plates on some opposite pages. Vibrant color illustrations. Very good. A later edition of what is considered one of the most ornate works on British song birds of the eighteenth century. Sitwell p. 78; Nissen IVB 115; Zimmer p. 64.
