Paris: Carola Guillard viduam Claude Chevallonu, and Guilielmum Merlin, 1552. First Edition. Two large folio volumes. Two page preface by printer Charlotte Guillard in first volume. [2058] pages. Printer's device on title page, large decorated initials, Greek and Roman type. Contemporary vellum with six raised spine bands. Binding worn, stained, corners bumped, joints and hinges cracked, small holes in spines from biopredation. Volume one: spine chipped, library stamp of the "Bibliotheque Leconte de Lisle" to front free endpaper; title page coming loose, inner margin corner bent; small hole from biopredation on lower right corner of first few pages, not affecting text, rear pages bent in upper right corner, paper repair on last leaf. Both volumes: Minor dampstains in margins, soiling, occasional wax drippings on pages, foxing, browning, else a good copy of this well used dictionary. From the Franklin V.
