    Description

Jack Vance. The Brave Free Men Archive, Multiple Signatures.
Desirable archive related to Book Two of Vance's Durdane Trilogy, The Brave Free Men. Considered some of his finest and most consistent work, the Durdane Trilogy's titles include The Anome (alternate title: The Faceless Man), The Brave Free Men, and The Austra.

Documents related to the second book of the trilogy are offered here, and include Vance's handwritten synopsis of Part One of the series (The Anome) to be included in the prefatory material of the second book, as well as a typed and heavily edited draft of that same synopsis, signed by the author. Additional items include: a collection of pages representing "material cut and changed for continuity for serialization in Fantasy and Science Fiction magazines," also signed by the author; a typed and edited Synopsis of Durdane: Book II, signed by Vance; a photocopy of the edited final draft; and a handwritten letter from Vance to "Ted" concerning the edits Vance has done. In this final item, the author mentions having already finished Part Three of the trilogy (The Austra), and asks about "money due from foreign sales of the Tschai set." As is to be expected, all items included in this lot are generally messy, creased, stained, and well handled. From the Robert and Diane Yaspan Collection.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
