J. M. Barrie. Better Dead. London: Swan Sonnenschein, Lowrey & Co., 1888. First edition, two impressions printed in 1888. Octavo. 145 pp. Publisher's color-illustrated paper wrappers. Front wrapper detached but present, corners bumped, spine chipped. Internally clean. House in custom blue cloth chemise and quarter blue morocco over blue cloth slipcase with gilt-stamped spine and five raised bands. Still very good. Barrie's first full novel known at the time as a "Shilling Shocker" and, if the first impression, produced at Barrie's own expense. Markgraf, 2000, p. 119-120.
