    Description

Ian Fleming. Diamonds are Forever. London: [1956]. First edition.

    More Information:

Ian Fleming. Diamonds Are Forever. London: Jonathan Cape, [1956]. First edition, first impression, with "His friends call him 'Boofy'" on page 134, lines 25-26. Octavo (188 x 124 mm) 257, [1, blank] pages (note: pages 9-10 not accounted for in pagination). Publisher's black cloth, front board stamped in silver with baguette-cut diamond device and ruled in blind with repeating diamond-shaped pattern, spine lettered in silver with publisher's device in silver at foot; all edges trimmed; plain white endpapers. In original dust jacket designed by Pat Marriott; rear flap with quote from Raymond Chandler and five reviews of Live and Let Die and seven reviews of Moonraker. Slight spine lean; rear board gently bowed. Page edges very lightly soiled with some foxing. Endpapers and neighboring leaves lightly foxed; front free endpaper thinned (perhaps through erasure or adhesive removal) near the center of the upper edge, making it slightly transparent. Dust jacket crudely repaired, detached (or nearly so) flaps held together by tape; several shorter closed tears also similarly addressed; occasional color correcting; small chips at both edges of each fold; foxed (mostly visible on verso) with some soiling. A very good copy in a just good jacket. Gilbert A4a (1.1).
