Inscribed and dated by King in year of publication, to his close friend, Phil "Flip" Thompson, reading: "For Phil - / A new book. Same / old world. Hope you like / it. Stay well - / Steve King / 9/28/79" on the front free endpaper. Octavo. 426 pages. Publisher's black cloth spine over black paper boards with gilt titles. Original pictorial dust jacket. Noticeable wear and soiling to the boards. Corners exposed. Dark liquid stains to the text edges. Minor wear to jacket, with a few small, clear tape repairs. A good book in a bright, very good jacket. Accompanied by a photocopy of a 1987 letter from bookseller David John Turner of Carlson & Turner Antiquarian Books in Portland Maine, who purchased this book, along with the four other Stephen King books inscribed to Flip in this auction, directly from Thompson's second wife, Sharon.
