Presentation copy, inscribed by King on the front free endpaper: "To Bob- / Hope you like these / odd stories- / Stephen King / 7/25/82." The date written by King is nearly one month before publication (August 27, 1982). Octavo. 527 pages. Publisher's blue cloth over blue paper boards, front board lettered in copper, spine lettered in copper and silver, dust jacket. Minor rubbing to book and jacket, else fine. From the collection of Bob O'Malley.

    Three of the four novellas that comprise this book spawned three movies: Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption was the basis of The Shawshank Redemption (1994); Apt Pupil was the basis of the film of the same name (1998); The Body was the basis of Stand by Me (1986).
