Publisher's full purple cloth, front board and spine stamped in dark blue. Spine sunned and worn, blue stamping on spine no longer visible, boards, toned, worn, soiled. Hinges starting. Endleaves and text toned and foxed, several gutters overopened. Very good. The rare first separate edition of Stevenson's first "crawler" story (as he referred to his macabre stories), and part of the Merriam Violet Series.
