All of the stories appeared in earlier collections of Benson's Fiction: THE ROOM IN THE TOWER (1912), THE COUNTESS OF LOWNDES SQUARE (1920), MORE SPOOK STORIES (1934) and THE FLINT KNIFE: FURTHER SPOOK STORIES (1988).
