First edition, one of 150 copies with a signed lithograph by Moore inserted at front, this being copy number 38. Folio. Approximately 18.5 x 12.75 inches. [64] pages. With limitation leaf inserted at rear. Bound by Zaehnsdorf in quarter grey levant morocco over blue paper boards, grey levant morocco fore-edges on covers, front cover and spine lettered in white, original publisher's slipcase. Book spine browned and somewhat worn, minor rubbing to binding, some very minor soiling to covers, some wear and a small blank sticker on slipcase. Overall, a near fine copy of this handsome and impressive work.

    Henry Moore (1898-1986) was an extremely successful sculptor and artist, primarily known for his enormous bronze abstract sculptures, many of which are on display around the world. This book features many sketches by him, many of which touch on one of his most enduring themes - mother and child or family groups.
