Presentation copy, signed and inscribed by the author to the front free endpaper recto, "To George T. Keating / with sincere regards / Helen Keller / March 3rd, 1956." Octavo. 247, [1] pages. Publisher's black cloth, spine letters in gilt and blue; original dust jacket. Head and foot of spine pushed. Plain white endpapers; a few lightly toned areas, small pencil notation to front free endpaper recto. Internally clean and tight, all edges trimmed; text block edges toned with minor wear. Dust jacket unclipped ($3.50); moderate edgewear, chipping to head and foot of spine and corners, somewhat rubbed. Near fine book with very good dust jacket.

    Keating, a noted book collector of this era, mentions this inscribed copy of Teacher in a letter to Keller on August 20th, 1957; in the letter, he apologizes for the delay in expressing and names Keller as one of his dearest heroes. "You [Helen Keller] are the living proof that we are indeed a spirit, not a body."
