    More Information:

    H. G. Wells. The World Set Free. London: Macmillan, 1914. First edition. Presentation copy, warmly inscribed to "Sir Thomas".

Inscribed by Wells on the front free endpaper: "Sir Thomas./from his modest admirer[?]/& Pupil/H. G./[flourish]". Octavo. [viii], 286, [8, ads] pages. Publisher's full green cloth, front cover and spine decoratively stamped in blind and lettered in gilt, dust jacket. Jacket sunned (especially at spine), some rubbing to jacket, very minor rubbing to binding, light offsetting to endleaves. Skewed. Still, a near fine copy.

It is unknown who "Sir Thomas" is, but he was clearly admired by Wells.

    Hammond B12.

From the John McLaughlin/Book Sail Collection.
