    One of Only Sixty Copies Signed by H. G. Wells and Alvin Langdon Coburn

    H. G. Wells. The Door in the Wall And Other Stories. Illustrated with Photogravures from Photographs by Alvin Langdon Coburn. London: Grant Richards Ltd., [1915]. One of only sixty copies (out of a total edition of 600 copies, the unsigned copies being issued in 1911) signed by Wells and Coburn, this being number 28. Folio. Approximately 14.75 x 10.5 inches. [vi], 153, [1, blank], [1, colophon], [3, blank] pages. With ten photogravures from plates prepared by Coburn mounted throughout. Publisher's original cloth-backed plain paper boards, front cover lettered in gilt, spine with printed paper label. Binding browned, rubbed and soiled, very minor occasional foxing in text. Overall, a very good copy of this rare item, housed in later custom-built slipcase. The last copy sold at auction was in 1984. Hammond C7a. From the John McLaughlin/Book Sail Collection.
