Four color frontispieces and numerous illustrated halftone plates inserted throughout. Publisher's quarter-cloth binding with navy paper boards, H. G. Wells's facsimile signature stamped in gilt on each front board, paper title labels to spines. Top edge gilt. Boards very lightly rubbed, each backstrip faintly dulled with some foxing and splashes, general light edgewear across the four volumes, corners gently bumped, ownership label of John Ruyle.
