    Six Items Signed by Wells

    H. G. Wells. Collection of Four Contracts, a Post Card and an Autograph Letter related to the Publication of Various Works. [Various places: 1907-1934]. Contracts include: The Island of Doctor Moreau, The New Machiavelli, Tono-Bungay and The History of Mr. Polly, which is annotated by Wells. Each contract is between Wells and the publishers Duffield & Company and signed by both parties as well two witnesses. Brief autograph post card signed by Wells and addressed to Duffield & Co. and a two-page autograph letter, signed by Wells and addressed to Mr. Dodd of Dodd, Mead and Company also included. Sheets measure approximately 12.75 x 8 inches, or slightly smaller. Contracts with horizontal folds with occasional fold separation, light marginal browning, discoloration and indentions from paperclips or staples to some contracts. The Island of Doctor Moreau contract tattered, with cellophane tape at folds, some bleed through, attached to document wallet with two brass brads in upper margin. Very good overall.
