    H. G. Wells Asks His Friend Holbrook Jackson to
    Recruit for the Fabian Society

    H. G. Wells Autograph Note Signed. One page, 7 x 4.5 inches folded, Sandgate, March 17, 1907. Written on recto of first page only of Wells' folded stationery. Addressed to Holbrook Jackson (1874-1948, British journalist, writer and publisher). Wells writes: "My dear Jackson/ April 18th. Call it Discussions Apropos of the of the Sum [?] of the M. U. [possibly Modern Utopia, 1905]. Yours H. G. Wells. I'm glad your group [illegible] so well, but I hope you are making all its members members of the F. S." [Fabian Society - the British society advocating for Socialism; Wells was a prominent member]. Two horizontal creases, some toning. Very good. From the Larry McMurtry Collection of H. G. Wells.
