H. G. Wells Sends a Post-Card to His Friend,
    Holbrook Jackson

    H. G. Wells Autograph Note Signed. One page, 5.5 x 3.5 inches, Brig [Switzerland], September 22, 1907. Written on the blank verso of a printed post-card and addressed to Holbrook Jackson (1874-1948, British journalist, writer and publisher) on the recto, with Jackson's name and address in Wells' hand. He writes: "My dear Jackson, I'm looking forward to your G. B. S. [Jackson's Bernard Shaw, Richards, 1907] (which is at home awaiting me) with much interest & cunning [?]. My many thanks for it. I'm writing my Jimmy [?] to send you a copy of the two stories so soon as he returns from a brief holiday of his own. I expect to be home in a week to ten days. Yours H. G. Wells". Card a bit toned, upper corner creased, some very minor smudging. Still, a very good item. From the Larry McMurtry Collection of H. G. Wells.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
