    H. G. Wells Writes to His Agent about the Serial Publication of The Research Magnificent

    H. G. Wells Autograph Letter Signed. Three pages on three sheets of Wells' stationery note paper, written on rectos only, 10.5 x 8.25 inches, Buckingham Gate [Wells has marked this out, and written "Reply Little Easton...], [n.d., but with publisher's "Received 6 Jul 14" ink stamp on the first page only]. Signed by Wells on the second page. Addressed "Dear Colles Yes I will take £1000 (British & Colonial) [written above the sentence], but the story cannot begin until September and the purchaser must arrange to protect my American copyright. Will you communicate with Reynolds at once in that matter?... " Later in the letter, Wells states that he will complete the corrected text when he returns from Little Easton. Vertical, horizontal, and upper corner creases, with staple-holes in the upper left corner. Generally, good. From the Larry McMurtry Collection of H. G. Wells.
