    The first complete edition of de Maupassant in English. One of 500 numbered copies (#239) with a hand-colored limitation page signed by contributor Robert Arnot. Complete in seventeen octavo volumes. Illustrated with lithographic plates (some of which are hand-colored). Bound in publisher's deluxe binding of half green levant morocco over marbled boards, spines with multi-colored gilt morocco floral onlays and lettered in gilt, five raised bands, top edge gilt, others uncut, marbled endleaves. Ten spines sunned to brown, the remainder are sunned to olive green. Some rubbing, mild soiling to bindings, a few hinges starting, a few gutters overopened, some pages roughly opened.
