Map of southern North America. Single sheet, colored (19.75 x 26.755.5 x 680 mm.). Soft vertical crease down middle, slightly darkened. Mild repaired chips and tears to edges of sheet, particularly at bottom half. Slight toning, most noticeable at margins; faint foxing. Very good. First state with author address as "Rue des Canettes." One of the best maps of the Southwest of its time, and the first printed map to accurately chart the course of the Mississippi River and its delta. More exact depiction of the Great Lakes and the English settlements of the east coast, as well as Native American villages in present-day east Texas.
