    Grant Allen. An African Millionaire. Episodes in the Life of the Illustrious Colonel Clay. London: Grant Richards, 1897. First edition. Octavo. viii, 317, [1, blank], [2, ads] pages; numerous in-text illustrations. Publisher's dark green cloth, spine lettered in gilt, front board lettered and elaborately stamped in gilt; top edge gilt. Backstrip very faintly dulled; edges and joints rubbed with light wear to spine ends and corners; light whitish soiling to crown and upper edge of front board near joint. Endpapers foxed; occasional marginal soiling or small stains; over-opened throughout, final gathering ('X') slightly sprung. Very good. Queen's Quorum 21.

    [Together with:] Baroness Orczy. The Old Man in the Corner. Toronto: William Briggs, 1909. First Canadian edition (or first edition, Canadian issue, comprised of the sheets from the Greening and Co. publication with a new title-leaf). Octavo. 340 pages; frontispiece and seven additional illustrated plates inserted throughout. Publisher's blue cloth matching the style of the English edition, with Briggs replacing Greenling at the base of the spine, spine lettered gilt, front board lettered in gilt and decoratively stamped in red, gray and black. Edges and joints light worn, particularly at spine ends and corners; occasional light soiling; corners softly bumped. Front hinge starting; previous ownership signature to front paste down; bookseller's ticket to rear paste down; minor over-opening throughout. Very good. Queen's Quorum 41. [xii], 288 pages with thirty-two page publisher's catalog dated 908; frontispiece and nine additional illustrated plates inserted throughout, in-text illustrations. Publisher's brown cloth, spine lettered in gilt, front boards lettered in black and light brown and decoratively stamped in light brown. Spine gently leaning; edges and joints worn; small closed tears to cloth crown and front joint; corners slightly bent. Endpapers discolored; previous ownership signature on front past down; catalog leaves toned; preliminary leaves lightly foxed. Very good. Queen's Quorum 42. A Haycraft-Queen Cornerstone.

Octavo. 311, [3, blank] pages (note: pages 1-2 are blank). Publisher's reddish brown cloth, spine and front board lettered in brown. Spine ends and corners lightly worn; corners just slightly bent; few small bumps to fore edge of front board. Text block just barely sagging; front hinge only just starting; very slight over-opening throughout. Near fine, house in custom chemise and slipcase. Queen's Quorum 58. A Haycraft-Queen Cornerstone.
