Contains Benivieni's Platonic love poem 'Canzona dello amor celeste et duvino' preceded by commentary of it by Pico.

"One of the richest contributions of the philosophers and poets of the late Italian Renaissance .. was a definite philosophy of love and beauty. This philosophy was popularized by Ficino in his commentaries on the works of Plato and Pico della Mirandola's learned Commento on the 'Canzona dello Amor celeste e divine' of Girolamo Benivieni. the soul is capable of possessing the light of Divine Beauty, says Pico, not of itself, but only through a gift and communication from another . 'The Advice of Man to His Soul', together with a number of fervent religious laude, was included in the single-volume edition of Benivieni's works. The poem is cast in the popular dialogue form, and is primarily of the Theocentric type of contemplation. Nature is conceived in the manner familiar to the mystics as vestigial of the Creator, and a contemplation of creatures brings the mind to the knowledge and love of God." - [Collins, Christian Mysticism in the Elizabethan Age].

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
