Seventeenth-Century Armenian Guide for Learning Italian

Girg aybubenits yew kerp usanelo zlezun italakan vojin kerakanutian (Book of the Alphabet and Manner to Learn the Italian Language with the Style of Grammar), Marseilles: Printing House of Holy Echmiadzin and Saint Sargis, 1675. This book was published in the Armenian printing house that Oskan Erevantsi moved from Amsterdam to Livorno and from there to Marseilles after publishing the first Armenian Bible in 1666. After his death in 1672, his cousin Soghomon Levonian took over the printing shop. This book, written entirely in Armenian, is a guide to learn Italian through the study of its grammar, primarily addressed to merchants. It also contains an unrelated section at the end, "Astrological Rules about the Maintenance of Body Health." There are ornamented letters at the beginning of each chapter. Number 95 in the online Catalogue of Armenian Books. Leather embossed. Good condition. 4.75 x 3.25 inches. Very important, rare. 94 pages. From the collection of a gentleman of New York.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
