    More Information:

"Georg Simon Winter von Adlersflügel, [1634-1701] German écuyer, director of the stud farms and veterinarian, managed, among others, the Württemberg stud farms of Güterstein, Offenhausen, and the main stud farm at Marbach in Swabia. Winter von Adlersflügel left a certain number of treatises on raising horses, equestrian art and veterinary medicine...One is surprised to find, however, that this veterinarian of the 17th century, practicing his art in the heart of Europe, still believed in the influence of the stars on the result of the breeding of mares, to the point of determining not merely the days, but the exact hours for breeding mares of different colors. " [André Monteilhet.] Mennessier notes that "Tous ces ouvrages sont d'ailleurs assez rares," and OCLC only finds one copy in the US. VD17 3:003617N. Lipperheide 2914. Mennessier II,651.
