[viii], 1-[307], [1, blank] pages. With frontispiece. Publisher's full yellow cloth, front board and spine stamped in black. In the rare original publisher's dust jacket. Cloth spine a bit rubbed at edges. Minor rubbing to cloth binding, with some occasional thumbsoiling at edges. Jacket verso has one small tape repair. Jacket a bit toned, edgeworn, and thumbsoiled, with some chipping and a few creased tears. Still, a near fine copy of this rare book. Chemised in slipcase.

    The first "locked room" mystery, and one of the best, admired by and inspiring such talents as Agatha Christie and John Dickson Carr (the master of the "locked room" mystery). A Haycraft Queen Cornerstone.
