Watercolor on thick paper with printed blueline text, outlines, and detail, measuring approximately 9.25 x 22 inches. Signed in full by Garth Williams at bottom right, with his notations. Publisher info on verso. Also with this is a less-detailed and unfinished version on slightly longer paper; this sheet is signed in full by Garth Williams on the reverse, with no publisher info. Both generally fine.

    Rich color suggestion by Garth Williams which was much simplified upon publication, with two-page spreads alternating between illustrations only partially in color and illustrations with no color at all.
