Original Designs for the Laura Ingalls Wilder
Garth Williams (American 1912-1996). Original Drawing for
the Laura Ingalls Wilder Award. [N.p., n.d., ca. 1960].
Original circular drawing featuring Laura Ingalls Wilder as a
child, holding a doll, fashioned from three layers of paper,
measuring 10 inches in diameter. Pencil on paper. Signed "Garth"
on the front, and with Mr. Williams' full signature on the
reverse with instructions to return the drawing to him in
Aspen, Colorado. Drawing has a few shallow bends, a tiny nick to
the edge (above the "G" in "Ingalls"), and a glue stain along the
top of Laura's head. Else, in generally near fine condition. The
Wilder Award is a bronze medal awarded to an author or artist by
the Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the
American Library Association, for excellence in children's
Award by Garth Williams
Also included are seven sheets of preliminary sketches (one of which is a printed proof) with measurements ranging between 8.5 x 11 inches and 17 x 22 inches, each initialed by Garth Williams. All in very good or better condition.
The Wilder Award is a bronze medal awarded by the Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association, to an author or illustrator "whose books, published in the United States, have made, over a period of years, a substantial and lasting contribution to literature for children." The medal was designed by Garth Williams, and its first recipient, in 1954, was its namesake, Laura Ingalls Wilder.
A particularly nice association item, as Garth Williams' classic illustrations for Laura Ingalls Wilder's books continue to delight generations of young readers.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
