More Information: Gabriel García Márquez. Cien años de soledad. [One Hundred Years of Solitude]. [Havana]: Casa de las Americas, [1968]. First Cuban edition, inscribed by the author on the half-title page: "Para [---], estos / cien cien años. Gabriel / 92." Octavo (7.25 x 4.625 inches; 184 x 118 mm.). xviii, 469, [1, blank], [8, timeline], [1, printer's note], [1, blank], [3, ads], [3, blank] pages (note: pages 1 and 2 are blank). Publisher's perfect binding in original oversized wrappers, printed in yellow, blue and black. Front joint lightly worn with a short closed tear at the bottom edge; edges barely worn; a couple small bruises to the "I" in "Cien" on the front wrapper; occasional trivial soiling; rear flap lightly foxed at the upper portion of the fold. Faint reddish discoloration to both hinges; rear hinge starting; last two gatherings very slightly sprung. Still, about near fine. The second Spanish-language edition, following the novel's initial publication in Buenos Aires, and the only edition to contain the timeline, "Gabriel García Márquez y su Época," which addressed major events in the author's life with notes about the broader cultural and historical context.
