[Mickey Spillane]: "Sea Dive" Black Rubber Swimming Mask. Circa, 1940s-1950s.

More Information: [Mickey Spillane]: "Sea Dive" Black Rubber Swimming Mask, Circa, 1940s-1950s. Spillane was an avid sportsman counting swimming and surfing among his many accomplishments. In fact, he was an accomplished swimmer and spent time in the late 1930s as a life guard at Breezy Point, New York. (This period nicely chronicled by a photograph archive in this present auction.) This vintage black rubber swim mask is marked "SEA DIVE MASK LOS ANGELES, CALIF." around the outer ring and "PAT. PEND. / MADE IN U.S.A." on the inside. The glass is intact and streaked with sand of unknown vintage. Sadly, the rubber strap is broken with only two short pieces of each end remaining. This mask no doubt accompanied Mickey on many aquatic adventures. From the estate of Mickey Spillane.
