[Mickey Spillane]. Mickey Spillane's South Carolina Security Officer Badge, New York Detective Badge, and South Carolina Concealed Weapons Permits. Spillane had a deep respect for law enforcement agencies and this respect was reciprocated. The state of South Carolina in particular considered him a Carolinian in all respects (despite his Yankee origins) and honored Mickey with the occasional honorary title, in this case a State of South Carolina Security Officer badge. The pin-back, unmarked, badge is secured in a black leather case which is fitted with a compartment containing photocopies of his South Carolina concealed weapons permits, and of all things his AT&T calling card. This badge is accompanied by a facsimile City of New York Detective's badge. The cast-brass, pin-back badge is housed in a faux-alligator plastic case. It is unknown how Spillane acquired this badge, perhaps a movie prop, or perhaps something given to him by a fan. Finally, the lot includes two of Mickey's original South Carolina Concealed Weapons permits and a South Carolina Sheriffs' Association Honorary Member card. This lot is particularly representative of the real Spillane, who was much like his literary creation, Mike Hammer - a gun packing force to be reckoned with. All items in this lot are in excellent condition. From the estate of Mickey Spillane.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
