The 1780 First Edition, with 164 Copper Engraved Plates

Frederic Lewis Norden. The Antiquities, Natural History, Ruins and Other Curiosities of Egypt, Nubia and Thebes. London: Printed for Lockyer Davis, Bookseller to the Royal Society, 1780. First edition. Folio. Engraved portrait of the author by Martin Teuscher, engraved scene opposite the author portrait, 159 engraved copper plates (numbered I-CLIX) on 157 sheets, and five unnumbered engraved plates bound at intervals (making 164 total half-sheet copper plates). Original paper-covered boards, later rebacked in brown leather. All edges uncut. Noticeable wear and abrading to the boards. Corners heavily worn. Minor chipping to front free endpaper and title leaf. Long horizontal tear to the title page, reinforced on verso with white tape. Minor, mostly marginal foxing, throughout. Later ink signature to front pastedown, and short ink notation to front free endpaper. Plate 26 almost completely detached. A very good copy.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
