    Description

Franz Kafka. Die Verwandlung [The Metamorphosis]. Leipzig: Kurt Wolff, [1915]. First edition, wrappers issue. Octavo (8.3125 x 5 inches; 212 x 127 mm.). 72 [73], [1, blank], [5, ads for Der Heizer [Kafka's "The Stoker"]], [1, blank] pages. Publisher's perfect binding, original plain grayish-green card wrappers with oversized dust jacket (illustrated by Otomar Starke) glued to the spine (as issued?); bottom edge of text block untrimmed. Dust jacket tanned, with some light marginal soiling, including a couple blots along the fore-edge of the front flap (partially affecting page edges); soft diagonal crease across lower-portion of the front panel with corresponding creases on the wrapper and flap; soft vertical creases near fore-edges (at text block edges); bottom edge slightly worn; joints rubbed. Single bookplate affixed to both the front flap and front inner-wrapper. Still, a very good copy.
