Second edition of this English translation by Watts. Quarto (11.5 x 7 inches; 292 x 178 mm.) [32], 38, [14], 322, [3, New World of Sciences], [1, blank], [7, indices], [7, Catalogus] pages. Copper engraved portrait of Bacon used as frontispiece. Contemporary leather binding with light decorative tooling and with a renewed morocco spine label lettered in gilt. Front board detached, spine renewed; toning to contents with occasional light scattered foxing; two former owner's book plates mounted to the front pastedown, some contemporary marginalia. Generally very good and worthy of restoration. Property from the Estate of Robert (Bobby) Palazzo, Westlake Village, CA.
