    Papyrus Fragments from the
    Egyptian Book of the Dead

    Four papyrus fragments, apparently from the Egyptian Book of the Dead, three showing figures (Egyptian gods), one fragment with hand coloring, plus a fragment in Coptic script on paper. All five preserved between glass. Comprising: Papyrus fragment (measuring approximately 2.6875 x 3.25 inches; 68 x 84 mm.), in black ink, depicting two figures facing one another, and with two horizontal rules above them. Repaired with tape on verso.
    Papyrus fragment (measuring approximately 3.5 x 2 inches; 90 x 52 mm.), in black ink, depicting a portion of the warrior goddess Sekhmet, with her sun disk and cobra crown, facing to the right. Possibly from The Chapter of Opening the Mouth of the Osiris Ani, or The Chapter of Giving a Heart to the Osiris Ani in Khert-Neter, Repaired with tape on verso.
    Papyrus fragment (an irregular shape measuring approximately 2.5 x 1.5625 inches; 65 x 39 mm.), in black ink, depicting most of one figure facing to the left and a tiny portion of another at right edge, and with five lines of text below and to the right, one line in red. A few small stains.
    Papyrus fragment (measuring approximately 1.375 x 2 inches; 35 x 52 mm.), painted in red, yellow, and black, with a small portion of three (?) figures, two in red, with what appears to be a yellow snake wrapped around them, outlined in black, and in between them something black, with one snake just touching it.
    The fragment on paper measures approximately 1.3125 x 2.4375 inches (32 x 63 mm.), and is written in Coptic script on both sides of the paper in black ink in four lines and part of a fifth line, with red marks at the left margin. Tape residue and small piece of tape on recto; three small pieces of tape on verso.
