[Taylor & Hessey, binder]. William Jones. The Poetical Works of Sir William Jones. With the life of the author. London: J. Nichols & Son; R. Baldwin, et al., 1810. Seemingly contemporary fore-edge painting depicting a waterfront scene likely from British occupied India. Two volumes in one. 12mo. 298; 251 pages; separate title pages. Illustrated with engraved frontispiece by R. Dagley. Taylor and Hessey binding; contemporary red straight grain morocco decorated in gilt, spine decorated in gilt with three raised bands and partial decorative gilt roll to edges with binder's stamp in gilt to fore-edge. Seemingly recased, corners bumped, minor edgewear, spine somewhat worn with minor worming to foot, somewhat rubbed and soiled. Inner dentelles gilt, brown endpapers; minor wear to edges. Internally generally clean and tight, all edges gilt; some dampstaining chiefly affecting front of text block, somewhat foxed, moderate wear to gilt on edges. Housed in red cloth clamshell case with printed paper spine label, lined in red velvet and marbled paper, minor edgewear. Very good with finely-detailed and well-preserved, though somewhat dulled, fore-edge painting. From the Estate of Randall J. Moskovitz, MD, Memphis, Tennessee
