Seemingly contemporary fore-edge painting depicting Richmond Bridge, Surrey, artist unknown. 16mo in eights. 323 pages. Illustrated with engravings. Taylor and Hessey binding; full straight grain green morocco decorated in gilt and blind, spine decorated in gilt with six raised bands, partial decorative gilt roll to edges with binder's stamp in gilt to fore-edge. Corners rubbed, moderate edgewear, spine sunned, joints starting, somewhat rubbed. Inner dentelles gilt, brown endpapers, minor offsetting, pencil notation to front free endpaper verso. Internally generally clean and tight, all edges gilt; early ink ownership of P. Thornton (Brockhall) to front blank recto, minor intermittent foxing, rear of text block lightly toned, moderate wear to gilt on edges. Housed in custom green cloth thumb-hole slipcase, minor edgewear. Very good or better with bright, finely-detailed, and well-preserved fore-edge painting. From the Estate of Randall J.
