Fore-edge painting by Miss C. B. Currie, depicting "A view of Lucan-house, Dublin," signed, titled, and numbered 157 by the artist, circa 20th century. Small octavo. 695 pages. Illustrated with frontispiece. Rivière & Son binding; full navy straight grain morocco elaborately decorated in gilt and blind, spine decorated and lettered in gilt with five raised bands, solid double gilt roll to edges. Boards somewhat bowed. Inner dentelles gilt, gray endpapers, Brooklyn Public Library (Ramsay Fund) bookplate to front pastedown, front hinge just starting, pencil notations to endpapers, two ink stamps, "H. Sotheran & Co., Ltd." and "Bound by Rivière & Son" to front free endpaper verso. Internally clean and tight, all edges gilt; minor wear to gilt on edges. Housed in black cloth clamshell case backed in black morocco, spine lettered in gilt with five false bands, lightly rubbed. Near fine with bright, finely-detailed, though lightly worn, fore-edge painting.
