Three volumes in one; Volume I dated 1803, Volumes II and III dated 1802 to title page. Octavo. 280; 306, [1]; 308, [3] pages. Contemporary full straight grain red leather stamped in gilt and blind, spine decorated in gilt, single solid gilt roll to edges. Moderate edgewear, spine sunned and worn with some losses, joint starting, 1-inch scrape to lower board. Inner dentelles gilt, brown endpapers, three bookplates to front endpapers, unevenly toned. Internally generally clean and tight, all edges gilt; somewhat foxed. Very good with bright, well-preserved fore-edge painting.

    [Together with]: The Prose Works of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. London: George Routledge & Co., 1853. Fore-edge painting depicting a portrait surrounded by a laurel wreath flanked by two more laurel wreaths filled with flowers, the entire image stained over red, artist unknown. Small octavo. 506 pages. Illustrated by John Gilbert. Full green pebbled morocco over rounded boards, decorated in gilt, spine decorated in gilt with five raised bands to spine. Corners bumped and rubbed, moderate edgewear, head and foot of spine somewhat worn. Inner dentelles gilt, marbled endpapers. Internally generally clean and tight, all edges gilt; frontispiece tipped in, somewhat foxed and soiled but chiefly to front and back of text block, minor wear to gilt on edges. Very good with bright and colorful, though murky, fore-edge painting.

    [And]: The Poetical Works of Lord Byron. Collected and arranged with notes by Sir Walter Scott, Lord Jeffrey... "New and Complete Edition." London: John Murray, 1859. Fore-edge painting by Mark Frost, signed with his "MF" device to the lower right corner, depicting a central oval portrait flanked by scenes: "Newstead Abbey," "George Gordon, 6th Lord Byron," and "Byron's Dream," circa late 20th century. Octavo. 827 pages. Full blue calf decorated in gilt, spine decorated in gilt with five raised bands and brown leather spine label lettered in gilt, decorative gilt roll to edges. Corners bumped, moderate edgewear, joints starting, somewhat worn and soiled. Inner dentelles gilt, marbled endpapers. Internally generally clean and tight, all edges gilt; ink gift inscription and penciled fore-edge painting titles to front free endpaper recto, somewhat foxed. Very good with bright, well-preserved fore-edge painting.

Fore-edge painting depicting a portrait of Abraham Lincoln, flanked by American motifs and locations, artist unknown. Octavo. 923 pages. Contemporary tree calf decorated in gilt with the crest of the Ripon Training College to the upper board in gilt, spine elaborately decorated in gilt with red morocco spine label lettered in gilt. Moderate edgewear, joints starting, somewhat rubbed. Inner dentelles in blind, marbled endpapers; bookplate of James Charles Getting (Doughton Cottage, Ross-On-Wye Co., Hereford) to front pastedown. Internally clean and tight, all edges gilt; pages 813-834 creased at the lower corners, just affecting fore-edge image, minor wear to gilt on edges. Very good or better with bright, detailed, and well-preserved fore-edge painting.
