Octavo (8.375 x 5 inches; 214 x 128 mm.). lxxiv 444; 494 pages; twelve hand-colored plates inserted throughout. Nineteenth-century red straight-grain morocco, boards decoratively ruled in gilt and blind, spines tooled and lettered in gilt in compartments, five raised bands, gilt board-edges and turn-ins; all edges gilt. Finely-detailed full-color fore-edge paintings reproducing images from the illustrations. Spines lightly sunned; some minor rubbing to bindings; a few corners bumped. One volume with previous owner's inscription; minor occasional foxing or soiling in text. Near fine. Housed in red cloth slipcase.
