James Parker and Co., 1870. Three twelvemo volumes of a larger set
(volumes I, II, and IV (part I)). With excellent contemporary
fore-edge paintings of Bethlehem, Damascus ("the street which is
called straight"), and Mary's Well at Nazareth respectively.
Uniformly bound in contemporary full purple, boards double-ruled in
gilt, spines ruled and lettered in gilt, with gilt burgundy
lettering labels, gilt board edges and turn-ins, marbled endleaves.
Spines uniformly sunned, some wear to bindings, one hinge just
starting. Still, a very good set with lovely fore-edge paintings.
Each volume with presentation bookplate from the Bible Class of
Rev. R. J. Salmon, Vicar of St. Martins, to him.
