DescriptionW. Somerset Maugham. Mrs. Craddock. London: Heinemann, 1902. First edition. Publisher's blue cloth rubbed and scuffed; spine leaning. Drink stain on front board. A half-inch spot to fore-edge. Good.
First edition. Octavo. 373 pages.
Publisher's blue cloth with gold and black stamping. Cloth is rubbed and scuffed, and spine is leaning. There is a drink stain on the front board. A one-half-inch spot is present on the fore-edge. Endpapers are evenly toned. Good.
Considered too salacious by his publisher, Maugham deleted passages in order to get this work published. In a reprint edition published in 1955, Maugham restored the original text and wrote in the preface that, read half a century later, "the propriety of the book seems almost painful." Mrs. Craddock was Maugham's first title published by Heinemann and the start of a relationship that would last for more than sixty years.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
