    Virgil Finlay's First Bound Collection

    Virgil Finlay. Linoleum Block Prints (Cut and Designed) by Warden Virgil Finlay - '31. Self-published, 1931.

    First edition and only set in existence. Stitched pages measuring 5.25 by 6.5 inches. 28 pages.

    Consists of twenty-eight linoleum block prints that Finlay has stitched together, creating the first "bound" collection of his work. All text in Finlay's own hand with several pages having notes about a particular print. Pages are toned and a few with minor chipping. Stamped on reverse with de la Ree's mailing address. Accompanying is a signed note from friend and publisher Gerry de la Ree attesting to the purchase of this item from Finlay in 1969. A beautiful, fragile, and unique item in very good condition.
