Offered in a maroon cloth, four-fold chemise with titles stamped in gilt on a black label on the front board.

    A lengthy treatise, containing a history of the state and its position in relation to the Union, other states, and Mexico, with particular emphasis on the issue of slavery. Sedgwick, a New York lawyer, originally published this work as a series of essays in New York's Evening Post.
