Translated by Abraham Hayward with thirty color plates and frontis illustrated by Willy Pogany. Original red cloth with gilt titles and borders, and interlocked pair of gilt hearts in each corner of front board, plus blind embossed border and floral vignette on the front board. Top edge gilt. Spine toned, corners bumped and worn, some fading and soiling to boards. Contents sound, with a taped repair to the recto of the frontispiece, library ex-libris with withdrawn stamp on front free endpaper with several very small library ink ownership stamps throughout, though no other usual library detrimental markings. Very good. [and:] Edward Fitzgerald, translator. Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam. London: George G. Harrap & Co., Ltd., [no date]. First edition thus. Octavo. Unpaginated. With fourteen tipped-in color illustrations by Willy Pogany. Original cloth with decoration and titles in brown on the front board and spine. Modest shelf wear to boards with one small stain at the lower spine end. Contents sound. A very good copy in a scarce dust jacket which has toned a bit and has small sections of the upper and lower spine panel missing.
